The Midwest Truck Series heads back to the birth place of the Midwest Truck Series this Sunday as teams roll into Madison International Speedway for the Joe Shear Classic 36 presented by Bullseye Games, a crown jewel event for the series.
A season ago, it was the next generation making noise. Derek Meyer set the tone early by grabbing fast time, while Eugene Gregorich III broke through, scoring his first career Midwest Truck Series victory.
Sunday marks the 13th running of the Joe Shear Classic at Madison in the modern era (2010–present) and the 34th running overall, adding another chapter to a race that continues to carry weight year after year.
When it comes to history at Madison, a few names stand above the rest.
Chester Ace leads the way with five career Joe Shear Classic victories, setting the benchmark for success at MIS. Right behind him is James Swan, who picked up his fourth win at the Howie Lettow Classic just last July and continues to prove why he is a 6x Midwest Truck Series Champion.
The list of past winners doesn’t stop there. Brandon Reichenberger, the two-time defending series champion, knows how to get it done at Madison. So does 2021 champion Tristan Swanson, along with Kevin Knuese, all of whom have found victory lane at MIS.
Drivers from across Wisconsin will be joined by competitors traveling in from Illinois, Minnesota, Michigan, and Georgia.
Race 2 of the 2026 season sets the stage for early momentum in the championship chase, and if last year was any indication, Madison will prove to be important.
