Swanson Grabs Dixieland Delight 35 at WIR

Kaukauna, WI - Tristan Swanson picked up his fourth Midwest Truck Series of the year after winning the Dixieland Delight 35 presented by Zentner’s Auto at Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna, Wisconsin.

The current points leader held off a late charge from Eugene Gregorich III to get his victory on the half-mile d-shaped oval.

Swanson got the lead over Brent Strelka on lap four and paced the field until the first caution flew with six laps to go after Austin Turner made contact with the turn two wall.

On the restart, Swanson chose the outside, giving Gregorich the inside line. Swanson would get a good jump to hold on to the top spot.

Gregorich had his best opportunity with three laps to go as he got a run on the inside of Swanson coming off of turn four. But the attempt was halted as the caution flew with three laps to go for Danielle Behn, who came to a stop on the frontstretch after contact with the wall.

Swanson would once again get a jump on Gregorich for the final restart and hold off for the win by 0.316 seconds.

Nick Van would come home third with two-time defending Midwest Truck Series champion Brandon Reichenberger in fourth. Strelka would round out the top five.

The Midwest Truck Series will head south to Grundy County Speedway in Morris, IL, for the Windy City Showdown on Saturday, August 15th.
